Turnips mash

Turnips mash –purée de navets ( Fr) – Neppe mos ( Nor)

Since I have been asked to share my recipe for the turnips mash, here it is.  It is inspired from a Weightwatchers recipe. This website always proposes alternative recipe which I enjoy. This mash replaces the tradition potato mash. It is in addition very light.

Ingrédients :

  • 800 g of Turnips
  •   2 onions
  •  1/2  broth cube 
  • 500 ml water  
  • 1 branch of thyme
  •   100 ml skim milk
  •  1 pinch (s) Salt & Pepper

1.Peel the turnips and onions, cut the vegetables into 4. Bring the water into a saucepan and put the stock cube.

2.Put vegetables in the the pan and add thyme. Close tightly and cook 15 minutes. Heat milk .

3.Drain the vegetables, remove the thyme, put the  vegetable back in a bowl with the milk and mix with a hand blender . Pepper and adjust seasoning with salt.

La purée de Navets 

Ingrédients :

  • 800 gde Navets  
  •   2 oignons
  • 1/2 cube de Bouillon   
  • 500 ml Eau
  • 1 branche de Thym  
  • 100 ml Lait 1/2 écrémé   
  • 1 pincée de  sel   & poivre

Préparation

  • 1.Éplucher les navets et peler les oignons, couper les légumes en 4. Porter l ’eau  dans une casserole et y mettre le cube de bouillon.
  • 2.Mettre les légumes dans le bouillon de la casserole. Ajouter la branche de thym. Fermer  et cuire 15 minutes. Faire chauffer le lait.
  • 3. Égoutter les légumes, enlever le thym, les remettre la casserole avec le lait et mixer avec un mixeur plongeant. Poivrer et rectifier l’assaisonnement en sel.
