Very berry mulled wine

Mulled wine is really setting up the mood for Christmas. Since I have lived in East of France, I cannot have any Christmas without any of those. Every year I browse  the Alsacian Christmas market in search of my holly drink.

Last week end it was not in Alsace I was but Notting Hill, London and I was looking at the stands of the flee market in Portobello street I got really interested in a pop up stand selling mulled ciders and berry mulled wine.

The berries bring sweetness to the drink. I added also in my version of this drink apples, brandy and home made blueberry drink from this summer.)IMG_20151211_104146[1]Recipe :


  • a bottle of Wine ( Bordeau )
  • berries ( blueberries & raspberries )
  • a spoon of Port Wine
  • a spoon of blueberry sirup
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 50 grams of brown sugar
  • 3 cloves of anis star
  • an apple cut in pieces
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • orange peeling
  • the juice of an orange


  • Add of the fruits and spices to the wine and warm gently.

    • I think the gløgg sold sold in the shops in Norway is a bit of a shame. It tastes more sirup than anything . I tastes homemade gløgg at a friends home ad this one was very similar to the one in Germany/ East of France.


      • Homemade is of course the best! I made gluhwien a lot in the Netherlands, I think it is more spiced than the norsk gløgg. So for me it is better with a bit more spices than sugar. Next time I will definitly try your mulled wine 😊
